The basic concept is that when you want to upload a file using a post request, you encode the html form with enctype="multipart/form-data". This then sends a mime encoded stream back to the servlet in the action field. The tricky part is extracting the fields from the ServletRequest variable. The part that's not obvious is that the boundary field (for the MIME body parts) is actually stored in the Content-Type header. You need to supply a content type that includes the boundary definition to the MimeMultipart constructor. You also need to be aware that the "name" and "filename" fields needed to associate form fields with values are included in the Content-Disposition header in each body part. I've included the source for the class I've used to solve the problem. It took me ages to solve this, so hopefully this will save you a little time. This is a fairly basic implementation, so modify as much as you like.....

Note: Due to the size or complexity of this submission, the author has submitted it as a .zip file to shorten your download time. Afterdownloading it, you will need a program like Winzip to decompress it.Virus note:All files are scanned once-a-day by Planet Source Code for viruses, but new viruses come out every day, so no prevention program can catch 100% of them. For your own safety, please:
  1. Re-scan downloaded files using your personal virus checker before using it.
  2. NEVER, EVER run compiled files (.exe's, .ocx's, .dll's etc.)--only run source code.

If you don't have a virus scanner, you can get one at many places on the net including:McAfee.com
