This submission seems kind of lonely. The code was nice and clean, controls named properly. I couldn't seem to get the channel join window to appear again after I closed it. 5 globes from me though. (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)
I'm sure it had to be removed in from the zip file as PSC doesn't allow DLL's. I don't know where you can get this file or how to install it, best results seem to come from installing both VB 6 Sp5 or Sp6, and installing VB 2005. AxMSWinsockLib is a Microsoft DLL that comes with VB, but I could be wrong. (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)
I'm completely unfamiliar with the Socket Class, I don't know how to use it at all. Using Winsock is just so much more familiar. I do want to eventually switch to something without dependencies, however for now Winsock is serving my purposes just fine. (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)
Your Visual Studio 2005 is somehow forcing Option Strict On. Try this ... Make sure Option Explicit On in mdlStrings is commented, and make sure under 'Project/nexIRC Properties/Compile tab' that implicit conversion is set to none or warning. It may also be that vs2005 has a problem with my code, where 2008 does not. (If this comment was disrespectful, please report it.)
